Overview

What is AI cloud infrastructure?

AI cloud infrastructure is the specialized compute, networking and storage that AI workloads need to run efficiently. Where a standard cloud environment is built around general-purpose CPUs and ordinary disk, AI infrastructure centers on GPU (or other accelerator) compute, high-bandwidth low-latency networking to keep those GPUs fed, and high-throughput parallel storage — all sized and configured for AI training and inference rather than everyday applications.

The difference matters because AI workloads are bound by GPU throughput and data movement, not CPU cycles. Provision AI on a general-purpose setup and expensive accelerators sit idle waiting on slow storage or networking — burning budget while jobs crawl. Purpose-built cloud infrastructure for AI keeps accelerators saturated, so you get the performance you're paying for.

Billow designs and builds AI-ready infrastructure across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud — from a single fine-tuning environment to multi-GPU training clusters and cost-efficient inference serving — with FinOps discipline applied to some of the most expensive capacity in the cloud.

What's included

The building blocks of AI-ready infrastructure

Every layer of your AI infrastructure services, designed to work together — so accelerators stay busy and data moves fast.

GPU & accelerator compute

Right-sized GPU instances and multi-GPU clusters for training, fine-tuning and inference — matched to your model size, framework and budget.

High-speed networking

Low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnect so multi-GPU and multi-node jobs aren't bottlenecked moving data between accelerators.

Parallel storage & data pipeline

High-throughput storage and data loading that keeps GPUs fed — no expensive accelerators stalling on slow disk.

Orchestration & scheduling

Kubernetes, Slurm or managed schedulers to queue jobs, share GPUs across teams and scale clusters up and down on demand.

MLOps-ready foundations

Environments wired for experiment tracking, model registries and CI/CD — so your data scientists build on solid ground, not one-off setups.

Cost & utilization control

Spot and reserved capacity, autoscaling and utilization monitoring — FinOps applied to GPU spend so you pay for accelerators that work.

Use cases

Infrastructure for every stage of AI

Training, fine-tuning, inference and retrieval each stress infrastructure differently. We design for the workload you're actually running.

Model training

Multi-GPU clusters with fast interconnect for training and large-scale fine-tuning — burst the capacity, then release it.

Inference serving

Low-latency, autoscaling infrastructure that serves models cost-efficiently and scales with real demand.

RAG & vector workloads

Compute and storage for embeddings, vector databases and retrieval pipelines behind generative AI applications.

HPC & data science

Accelerated environments for simulation, analytics and experimentation — shared across teams with fair scheduling.

Platforms

GPU cloud infrastructure on any major cloud

We build on the accelerator instances of all three clouds — and advise on the right platform and instance types for your models, rather than defaulting to one.

AWS

Amazon Web Services

GPU & accelerator instances

GPU-accelerated compute, high-performance networking and managed AI services — plus spot capacity for cost-efficient training.
AZ

Managed Azure

GPU VMs & AI platform

Accelerated virtual machines and AI tooling that fit Microsoft-centric estates, integrated with your existing Azure landing zone.
GC

Google Cloud

GPU & TPU

GPU and TPU accelerators with strong data and ML tooling — a natural fit for data-led and research-heavy AI teams.

How we engage

From assessment to managed cloud

01

Assess

We map your models, frameworks, data volumes and budget — and whether you're training, serving or both.

02

Design

The right accelerators, networking, storage and orchestration on the platform that fits — sized to the workload, not guessed.

03

Build

Provisioned as code, with schedulers, monitoring and MLOps foundations wired in from the start.

04

Optimize

Ongoing utilization and cost tuning — spot, reserved and autoscaling — so GPU spend tracks real work.

FAQ

AI infrastructure questions

AI cloud infrastructure is the specialized compute, networking and storage that AI workloads need. Unlike a standard cloud setup, it centers on GPU (or other accelerator) compute, high-bandwidth low-latency networking to keep those GPUs fed, and high-throughput parallel storage — sized and configured for AI training and inference rather than general applications.
AI training and inference are bound by GPU throughput, memory bandwidth and data movement, not ordinary CPU and disk. Standard cloud provisioning leaves expensive GPUs idle waiting on slow networking or storage, wasting capacity. Purpose-built AI infrastructure keeps accelerators saturated and controls cost.
We build on all three major clouds — AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud — using their GPU and accelerator instances, and can advise on the right platform and instance types for your AI workloads rather than defaulting to one.
Yes. GPU capacity is expensive, so we apply FinOps discipline — right-sizing instances, using spot and reserved capacity for training, autoscaling inference, and monitoring utilization — so you pay for accelerators that are actually working, not idle.
Yes. Training and inference have different profiles — training needs large bursts of multi-GPU capacity, while inference needs low-latency, cost-efficient serving that scales with demand. We design infrastructure for both, and for fine-tuning and retrieval workloads in between.
