OT security that protects without stopping the line .

Industrial systems were built to run for decades, not to fend off modern attackers. Billow's OT security services protect operational technology, ICS and SCADA environments asset visibility, IT/OT segmentation, monitoring and safe hardening securing the systems that run your operations without the downtime you cannot afford.

  • OT, ICS & SCADA asset visibility

Overview

What is OT security?

OT security (operational technology security) is the practice of protecting the hardware and software that monitor and control physical industrial processes — such as ICS (industrial control systems) and SCADA — from cyber threats. Where IT security protects data, OT security protects processes, equipment and safety.

OT environments are uniquely hard to defend. The systems are often decades old, run proprietary protocols, and were designed for a world where they were never connected to anything hostile. They frequently cannot be patched on demand or taken offline, and a careless security scan can cause the very outage you are trying to prevent. As IT and OT converge, these systems are increasingly exposed — but they still cannot be secured with standard IT tools and tactics.

Billow approaches OT cybersecurity the way it needs to be done. We start with passive discovery to see every asset without disrupting it, segment OT from IT so threats cannot cross over, monitor industrial protocols for signs of compromise, and harden systems in planned, safety-aware stages. The result is real OT security that respects uptime and safety — the two things you cannot trade away.

What's included

OT security that respects uptime and safety

Our OT security services cover the full industrial estate from seeing what is on the network to containing, monitoring and responding to threats, without disrupting operations.

OT asset discovery & visibility

Passive discovery that maps every OT, ICS and SCADA device without touching or interrupting sensitive systems.

IT/OT segmentation

Segment OT from IT and the internet so an attacker who breaches the office network cannot reach the plant floor.

OT threat monitoring

Monitoring built for industrial protocols and device behavior early warning on compromise without disruptive scanning.

Vulnerability & risk management

Identify and prioritize OT risks, and remediate through change windows that respect safety and uptime.

Secure remote access

Controlled, monitored remote access for vendors and engineers so maintenance does not become a way in.

OT incident response

Response plans and support built for OT where containing a threat has to account for physical safety and continuity.

Why OT security

In OT, a breach can hurt more than data.

When the systems under attack control physical processes, the stakes change downtime, damaged equipment, even safety. OT security protects operations, not just information, and it has to do it without becoming the disruption.

Safety & uptime first

Everything is designed around keeping operations running safely security that never becomes the outage.

See the hidden assets

Most OT estates have devices no one has an accurate list of. Visibility is the first and biggest win.

Contain IT/OT crossover

Segmentation stops an office-network breach from ever reaching industrial systems.

Monitor without disruption

Purpose-built OT monitoring watches for threats without the scanning that can knock fragile systems over.

Approach

How we secure OT environments

We combine OT-native tooling with proven frameworks visibility, segmentation and monitoring designed for industrial systems, aligned to standards like IEC 62443 and NIST.

AV

OT asset visibility

Passive discovery & inventory

Agentless, passive discovery that maps and monitors OT/ICS assets without disrupting them.
SEG

IT/OT segmentation

Zones & conduits

Network segmentation and OT firewalls that isolate industrial systems from IT and the internet.
STD

Standards-aligned

IEC 62443 · NIST

Programs aligned to recognized OT security frameworks like IEC 62443 and the NIST guidance.

How we engage

From blind spots to secured OT

01

Assess

We passively discover OT/ICS/SCADA assets and map risks safely, without disrupting live systems.

02

Segment

We isolate OT from IT and the internet with segmentation and OT firewalls to contain threats.

03

Monitor

We deploy OT-native threat monitoring for early warning across industrial protocols and devices.

04

Respond

We put OT-aware incident response in place containing threats while protecting safety and uptime.

FAQ

OT security questions

OT security (operational technology security) is the practice of protecting the hardware and software that monitor and control physical industrial processes — such as industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA — from cyber threats. Unlike IT security, which protects data, OT security protects processes and safety, where a compromise can affect physical equipment, production and people.
IT security protects information systems and data, prioritizing confidentiality. OT security protects industrial control systems that run physical processes, where availability and safety come first and downtime can be dangerous or extremely costly. OT systems are often old, run proprietary protocols, and cannot simply be patched or taken offline — so OT security relies on visibility, segmentation and monitoring designed for those constraints.
ICS (industrial control systems) and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) are the systems that monitor and control industrial equipment. Securing them means gaining visibility of every device, segmenting them from IT networks, monitoring for threats, and controlling access — protecting the systems that run manufacturing, utilities and critical infrastructure without disrupting operations.
Carefully and non-disruptively. We start with passive asset discovery and monitoring that does not touch or interrupt sensitive OT systems, then introduce segmentation and controls in planned, low-risk stages. Patching and changes are scheduled around operational windows and safety requirements — OT security is designed around uptime and safety, not against them.
Yes. We provide threat monitoring purpose-built for OT — watching industrial protocols and device behavior for signs of compromise, and alerting when something is wrong — without the disruption that IT-style scanning can cause. Combined with segmentation and access control, it gives you early warning across the systems that run your operations.
